Celebrate Public Service Recognition Week

Government employees serve and protect our country every day. While we should always show our gratitude for them, Public Service Recognition Week gives us an annual opportunity to reflect upon their service and express our thankfulness.

Celebrated the first week of May since 1985 (beginning on the first Sunday of the month), Public Service Recognition Week (PSRW) is organized annually by the Public Employees Roundtable (PER) and its member organizations to honor the men and women who serve our nation as federal, state, county and local government employees.

This year, from May 7–13, take part in the celebration of public servants during Public Service Recognition Week 2017 (PSRW) by participating in one of the following events, or visit the PSRW website to download the Celebration Toolkit and plan your own event.

Events in Washington, D.C. during PSRW 2017 include: the fifth annual Public Service 5K run/walk, a public service appreciation games with D.C. United and the Washington Nationals and a congressional breakfast to congratulate the finalists of the Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medals.

No matter where you go, or what you do to celebrate, just remember to thank a fed next week for all they do.
