OPM Offering Limited Self Plus One Enrollment Period in February

Feds who missed their chance during Open Season to switch their Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHBP) coverage will have another opportunity in February to select the new Self Plus One coverage option.

The Limited Enrollment Period will run from February 1, 2016 through February 29, 2016, according to the Office of Personnel Management (OPM).

The Limited Enrollment Period is not an extension of Open Season, rather it is an opportunity for those who did not switch from Self or Family to select the Self Plus One coverage option.

“This is the first year that self-plus-one is available to FEHB enrollees,” an OPM official was quoted by Federal News Radio as saying. “While we have made every effort we can to educate enrollees about the new choices available to them, we know that some employees will miss Open Season only to later realize that they would benefit from enrolling in self-plus-one. OPM wanted to give employees a second chance to enroll in self-plus-one.”
