215 Arrested in San Antonio’s 'Operation Triple Beam'

A San Antonio-area gang violence reduction initiative recently netted 215 arrests, 70 guns seized, $233,373 confiscated and $176,153 worth of drugs taken off the streets.

Operation Triple Beam, which focused on gang and violence reduction on the city's East Side, included law enforcement officers from the U.S. Marshals Service Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, San Antonio Police Department, Bexar County Sheriff's Office and Texas Department of Public Safety.

Led by the U.S. Marshals Service Gang Enforcement Unit, agents and officers targeted specific areas to reduce gang violence and dismantle gang infrastructures.

"We focused like a laser beam and collaborated efforts with our state and local partners," US Marshals Agent Alessio Hernandez said.

The federally-funded initiative cost about $90,000, San Antonio Assistant Police Chief James Flavin said.

"We have to keep the pressure up and keep working," Flavin said. "We just have to keep being proactive."
