The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has named W. Larry Ford as the new Special Agent in Charge of ATF’s Chicago Field Division, where Ford will be responsible for ATF’s operations throughout Illinois.
“I am thrilled to return to the Chicago Field Division and have the opportunity to reunite with some of the best investigators in ATF and the finest federal, state, local, industry and community partners in combating violent crime,” Ford said. “The mission of ATF is critically important to the citizens of Illinois.”
Most recently, Ford served as the Assistant Director of ATF’s Office of Field Operations, where he supervised a staff of over 3,000 special agents, industry operations investigators and criminal enforcement operations and regulatory inspections professionals.
Ford also served as the Assistant Director of the Office of Strategic Intelligence and Information and as the Assistant Director of the Office of Public and Governmental Affairs from 2004 to 2010.
Ford earned a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Toledo. He is also a member of numerous national law enforcement organizations and was recognized for his public service efforts with the prestigious Presidential Rank Award of Meritorious Executive in 2008.
