OSI Special Agent Awarded with Merit Distinction by Spanish Ambassador
An Air Force Office of Special Investigations special agent has been awarded with a merit distinction from the Ambassador of Spain, OSI recently announced.
Special Agent Thomas Gozzo, OSI Executive Liaison was awarded with the Orden Del Merito Policial with condecoration Cruz Blanca (translated: The Police Order of Merit, White Cross) by the Ambassador of Spain, His Excellency Ramón Gil-Casares.
The Merito Policial award is rarely bestowed on Americans in the federal law enforcement community, OSI said, and Gozzo is the first American in Washington, D.C., to receive the medal.
During the ceremony, which was attended by Brig. Gen. Kevin Jacobsen, OSI commander, and other OSI colleagues, the ambassador thanked Gozzo for his availability in assisting Spanish law enforcement and Gozzo’s liaison initiatives.
“I’m proud and honored to receive this award from the Spanish ambassador on behalf of OSI,” Gozzo said. “It has been my pleasure to work with our Spanish law enforcement partners.”

In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls as National Police Week, a special time to honor America’s law enforcement officers, particularly those who have been killed in the line of duty.
