Citizens Encouraged to Report Gun-Related Crimes by New ATF Ad Campaign
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has launched an advertising campaign in Rockford, Ill., to encourage the public to report firearm-related crimes to authorities.
The advertising campaign will include several billboards in the Rockford area that feature a phone number the public can use to report gun crimes at any hour of the day. Individuals using the phone number, 1-800-ATF-GUNS, may remain anonymous and may also receive a monetary award if the information leads to a successful prosecution, ATF said.
ATF said it hopes the campaign will ultimately increase citizen involvement in ensuring the safety of the community as well as remind the public that gun crimes can be reported anonymously.
Lamar Outdoor Advertising donated a significant amount of advertising space on both electronic and stationary billboards throughout the Rockford area, ATF said.
